I may have mentioned something about Green Thumb Journey before. This project is still in progress, but now it’s down to the final design. I sat down and worked on a logo the entire day (starting with something drastically different) before settling with this masterpiece. I love it and I hope the world does too.
Green Thumb Journey is aimed toward making gardening more accessible and inexpensive for everyone. The idea began when more and more people told me, “I would love to have a garden like you, but I wouldn’t know where to begin. I don’t have enough space or time to maintain it.” With a mixture of social media networking, grassroots marketing, and a little guerrilla gardening, I hope to get everyone on board with this idea.
Pretty soon I’m going to make some stuff available so you can help launch this movement from your own home. There are two ways you can help:
- Collect water bottles and other plastic containers that would otherwise contaminate our earth. Sow some seeds in them, slap a Green Thumb Journey label on them (I’ll post this up soon) and share them with everyone you know. You can even stick them in public places where you think people would pick them up and take them home (just don’t get caught!)
- Lend a hand in creating a plant database. Share your knowledge on the best way to grow tomatoes, ginger, lemon trees, or overall how to maintain a great garden/farm without too much effort. I’m hoping that, eventually, I can create a page for each type of plant and provide some general info on how to care for it, and have a way to connect the physical label to this online document.
This will be a very complex project, but I hope that I can at least start simply at step 1! We already have a great community here on tumblr, so let’s try to get some non-gardeners in on the fun.
